Staff

Future Tenant Staff 2010-2011
Due to our affiliation with Carnegie Mellon University, Future Tenant’s staff rotates every year. Each spring, two new directors are hired for the following academic year, and each fall, six new staff members are hired to serve as managers of the space.

Orvokki Halme, Co-Executive Director

Orvokki Halme grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and is a first generation Finnish-American. She studied Art & Design and the Science of Textile Technology in college, then lived in New York City and Helsinki for a number of years. Through a variety of experiences, she found her place belonged in an organizational capacity in a visual arts environment, which is what led her to graduate school to focus on just that.

Laura Zorch, Co-Executive Director

Laura is in her second year of the MAM program. Prior to attending CMU, Laura spent three years working at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art organizing special events. Awesome at mainly everything, Laura looks forward to applying her knowledge and skills in future creative ventures.

L. Corwin Christie, Director of Marketing

L. Corwin Christie grew up in Chicago, studied at Oberlin College and Oxford University. She moved to Denver, where she worked as Editor-in-Chief of a monthly magazine before founding a theatrical production company. She is in the Masters of Arts Management program at Carnegie Mellon University, and works as the Marketing Director of Future Tenant and a freelance graphic designer.

Katy Peace, Visual Arts Programming Manager

Katy Peace is currently a first-year Master of Arts Management student at Carnegie Mellon University. She received her BA in Art History from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2006, and has since held various jobs within the arts. In addition to acting as Future Tenant’s Visual Programming manager, in her spare time she pursues her interest in photography, bakes cupcakes, and hangs out with her cat.

Emily Wicks, Performing Arts Programming Manager

Emily Wicks is a second year Master of Arts Management student at Carnegie Mellon’s Heinz College. Emily graduated from Allegheny College in 2007 with BA in English and an interest in the arts. Since graduation she has worked in both non-profit and for profit visual arts and spent the past summer interning in general administration and development at the Chicago Children’s Theatre. Emily joined Future Tenant this fall and has enjoyed the learning opportunities it has provided.

Erin Gough, Facilities Manager

Erin Gough is excited to be Future Tenant’s first ever Facilities Manager. She is a first-year Masters of Arts Management student at Carnegie Mellon University. She is a recent graduate of George Mason University’s Art and Visual Technology program where she focused primarily in painting, sculpture, and papermaking. She also completed a minor in Art History. Originally from Harrisburg, she maintains a fierce loyalty to her Philadelphia teams, especially her Phillies, though she has become increasingly captivated by the black and gold. Her favorite artists are Louise Bougeois, Anish Kapoor, and Janine Antoni.

Leanne Cardwell, Development Manager

Prior to moving to Pittsburgh for the MAM program at CMU, Leanne spent two years in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she worked as an AmeriCorps*VISTA at Read To Me International (a nonprofit literacy organization) and at the Hawaii House of Representatives. There, she gained experience in fundraising, development, government administration, and in making SPAM musubi. Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, Leanne is increasingly nervous about the first Pittsburgh snowfall. She holds a BA in English (Creative Writing) from Arizona State University.

Liz McFarlin, Marketing Manager

Liz is a first-year Master of Arts Management student at Carnegie Mellon’s Heinz College with undergraduate degrees in Art History and Marketing Management from Case Western Reserve University. Liz has worked in both for-profit and not-for-profit arts organizations and hopes to establish a career in which she can continue to blend her passion for visual art and arts advocacy with innovative business and leadership practices. Her interests include fine art, playing piano, volleyball, eating pizza and traveling. Since joining the staff at Future Tenant. Liz has enjoyed getting to know the many supportive arts organizations of Pittsburgh.

Callie Mower, Print & Digital Media Marketing Manager

Callie Mower comes to Future Tenant after previous stints as a bellman, polar bear and soda jerk. While all of those experiences actually lend themselves well to working at Future Tenant, Callie has worked more relevantly in marketing and public relations for The Rainbow Company Youth Theatre, the Warner Music Group and The Coca-Cola Company. Callie is a first year student in the Master of Arts Management program with a Bachelor of Art in History and extensive knowledge of completely irrelevant historical facts and figures. When not staring intently at Photoshop or updating the Future Tenant Facebook, Callie enjoys playing the guitar, pretending to be on Iron Chef and reading good books.
