“They saw they were naked – and they were ashamed…”
They – born to light, soon lost. Growing humanity – fell apart.
A sound with no echo, the world through a screen, screams across canyons, our same, separate dreams…“Gather together,” spoke a song from on high, what is the difference between XX and XY?
Willingly we battle on: Through shadow and forest, towards new light we stream with puppets, and giants, and blank masked machines…

Welcome to In the Basement Theatre Company’s homegrown creation story. Using things you can find anywhere from an attic to a hardware store – we’re here to open our cardboard gates to you. Come play with our world on this stage – let’s try to answer history’s riddle together (and perhaps for the better?)

Alex Weston - Mechanic; Adrian Enscoe - Mover; Jessie Shelton - Shaker; Katya Stepanov - XX; Jesse Carey-Beaver - XY; Asia Gagnon - Stage Manager; Sarah Gillam - Lighting Design

THE ARCHIPELAGO: A BALKAN PASSAGE
February 23-25, 8PM

The Archipelago: A Balkan Passage is Robert Isenberg’s dynamic one-man-show about a journey through the former Yugoslavia. Adapted from his recent book, The Archipelago relates stories from Greece, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia and Bosnia — told in an earthy, comic and often heartbreaking style. This show continues the “monologue” tradition of Spalding Gray and Mike Daisey, while incorporating multimedia elements.

Adapted for the stage and performed by the author, The Archipelago: A Balkan Passage is being presented by No Name Players in conjunction with Autumn House Press and will be directed by No Name Players’ Artistic Director, Don DiGiulio.

Robert Isenberg - Writer/Performer; Don DiGiulio - Director; Dave Ranallo - Stage Manager

Produced by No Name Players (Don DiGiulio, Artistic Director and Tressa Glover, Managing Director) in conjunction with Autumn House Press (Michael Simms and Richard St. John)

STUFF
March 3-5, 7PM & 9PM

Poof is an opportunity for artists to create an experimental performance with a mission of social change. Each performance is experimental in many dimensions. For example, in a Poof experience, the audience is a part of the performance. Poof events include all original works of sculpture, photography, theatre, dance, creative writing, graphic design, film, music, songwriting and more. Poof performances are geared towards inspiring the public to think about the world differently. Issues such as inequality, environmental injustice, and human rights are raised.

Stuff is based on a clip by Annie Leonard, which can be found at www.storyofstuff.com. As a global collective community, we are in a dire situation regarding the environment. Poof artists choose to speak out about the extreme violations that corporations have inflicted on the rights of humans, and planet Earth, our only home. But Poof’s premiere event, Stuff, doesn’t just spew out information. The artists create their work from a real and honest place. The work intends to have a personal and emotional impact on the audience. This is executed by involving them into the multi-dimensional experience. Stuff intends to bring the public together because our problem of overconsumption and rapid disposal is embedded in our culture and our lifestyle. Poof encourages people to think about “stuff” differently because it takes everyone to make important changes.
