Stop by 819 Penn Avenue anytime you are in the Cultural District May 10-30 to see the window exhibit Live, Waste, Live by Marie Barcic. Using the installation of printed and stenciled full body portraits of Pittsburghers grown from compost, Barcic aims to replicate the story of the Cultural District, of growing and transforming what is seen as waste.
Marie Barcic is a native of Pittsburgh who is currently in her third year at Carnegie Mellon University pursuing her BFA in art. Through meaningful repurposing of decayed matter and abstracted images of the human expression, her work serves as a signifier of the momentariness of the lives that humans live and also illuminates the cyclical nature of life.
